During my childhood I lived in a village in Hampshire, UK and attended a local denominational church. I always believed in God and as a child living in the countryside, it seemed logical that such a beautiful creation had to have a creator. I remember very clearly my confirmation and being bitterly disappointed when the Bishop anointed me with the oil and said, “Receive ye the Holy Spirit” and nothing happened.
Many years later I was married with two young children and living in Australia. I was still searching for answers and wanted to find a church where we could attend as a family. A work colleague of my husband’s told him how he had come to know the Lord in Spirit and truth. As a result I attended a Revival Centre meeting in Canberra, Australia. I was told that I had to repent, be baptised by full immersion in water and that I would receive the Holy Spirit, (Acts 2v38), with the evidence of speaking in tongues, just as the people did on the day of Pentecost, Acts 2v4. Since obeying the Lord’s directive, receiving the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues myself, I began my walk with the Lord.
All these years later my experience is still as wonderful as when I first heard the salvation message. I can’t imagine living life any other way.
