Lucia’s Story – Poland

My Beginnings in Switzerland

My name is Lucia and I grew up in Switzerland in a surrounding where I had all I needed: A loving family, friends and great abundance in general.

I remember going along to the Protestant church with my parents when I was a child, but I could never see God’s presence there, so later as a teenager I stopped going. However, at the same time I also started looking for something – today I know I was looking for God- and I got interested in new age philosophies. Some of the concepts presented there seemed very interesting at the time, but I remember being very confused about which being to turn to in times of real need: Should I call upon my guardian angel, pray to the universe or hug a tree in the forest? Everything seemed possible, but there was never an answer.

Meeting God’s People

When I was 19, I travelled around Australia and it was there that I first heard about the Revival Centres Church. I went to one of their meetings and immediately felt in my heart that God was present in that church. It wasn’t just a feeling, because people there talked about God as if they knew Him personally and many of them had been healed or their lives had been changed .

After returning to Switzerland I couldn’t forget about all the things I had seen and heard, so I went to Italy where the same church held a church camp.

Meeting God and Finding Salvation

At that camp in August 2001 I prayed to receive the Holy Spirit and after a few moments I spoke in tongues. Two days later I was baptized in a cold mountain lake. Finally I knew which God to pray to and also how to pray: In the prayer language the Lord has given me. I pray in tongues every day and God has proven His faithfulness countless times by answering my prayers.

Healing

I also experienced a healing for myself: a doctor diagnosed me with hyperthyroidism and said that I would have to take medication for the rest of my life. I did not want to accept this, so the church and I prayed for my healing. After a few months all symptoms of the disease disappeared, no medication required!

Living in Poland

My husband and I now live in Poland where we preach the Gospel. Seeing other peoples’ lives miraculously changed through the power of the Holy Spirit is one of the most amazing and rewarding things that there are. Many people think that happiness is having money or a good job, but I know that these things are ultimately meaningless without the Lord.

Until I knew God, nothing could fill the void I had felt inside of me. Only God can give us true happiness and peace, even in difficult situations.
